Women are not just victims of war — they are agents of peace. Yet, despite over two decades of advocacy under the UN Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, women remain underrepresented in peace negotiations worldwide.
Why Inclusion Matters
When women participate in peace processes, agreements are 35% more likely to last at least 15 years. Their perspectives address social healing, community resilience, and reconciliation — dimensions often missed in male-dominated negotiations.
The Challenge Ahead
Many governments have weakened or dismantled their WPS frameworks. This threatens to undo progress made over years of advocacy. Meanwhile, over 600 million women and girls live in conflict zones — more than at any point in modern history.
CGPCR’s Role
The Centre for Global Peace and Conflict Resolution champions gender-sensitive peacebuilding. We integrate gender equity into our mediation training, youth peace initiatives, and policy research. We also partner with women-led NGOs to strengthen community leadership and support survivors of conflict-related violence.
Building the Future
Lasting peace cannot exist without women at the table. CGPCR will continue to promote their voices in every dialogue, negotiation, and leadership platform for peace.
